# Make It Say

> Make It Say (makeitsay.com) changes the text inside an existing image: upload a screenshot, poster, sign, meme or handwritten note, the text is found automatically, you type what each line should say, and the result keeps the original font, color, slant and background. No source file and no font name needed. Works with Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic text. First edit free, no watermark.

## Facts

- Input: one PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 10 MB. Output: PNG the same size as the input; only the changed lines are redrawn, the rest keeps the original pixels; no watermark. Photos over about 8 megapixels are scaled down in the browser before upload.
- The text in the image is detected automatically with boxes; you can fix a line or draw a missing box. Lines can be translated automatically into another language, and you check the translation before the image is made. One edit can change up to 20 lines.
- Price: 1 credit per image, however many lines change. New accounts get 1 free credit. Packs: 2 edits $1, 40 edits $10, credits never expire. Pro: 120 edits a month for $20 a month or $200 a year. Failed edits are not charged. Checkout by Stripe; sign in with email and password or Google.
- How it works: a vision model reads the text and its position; ByteDance's Seedream 5 image model rewrites the chosen lines in the original style. An edit takes 20 to 40 seconds.
- Not for: ID cards, passports, licences, certificates, transcripts, receipts, invoices or bank documents. These are refused at upload.
- Free blur tool (https://makeitsay.com/blur-text-in-image): finds the text, you tap the lines to hide, blur, pixelate or black box is drawn in the browser on the full-size image. No account, no credits, no watermark; ID cards and receipts are allowed there, because hiding text cannot forge them.
- Privacy: uploaded images and results are kept privately for 30 days, or deleted at once when you delete the edit.

- Same credits as the website: 1 credit per image, however many lines you change. Failed edits are not charged.
- Images: PNG or JPG, 64 to 4096 pixels a side, up to 8.4 megapixels and 10 MB. Send a file, a public https URL, or base64.
- Up to 20 lines per image, each up to 200 characters. "from" is the text as it appears in the image; an empty "to" removes the line.
- The image is scanned first. If a "from" text is not in the image, nothing is charged and the response lists the lines that were read.
- IDs, passports, licences, certificates, transcripts, receipts, invoices and bank documents are refused.
- Scans count toward 30 an hour and 100 a day per account. Three edits can run at once.
- The result is a PNG at the size of the original. Its URL works for one hour; get the edit again for a fresh one. The original and the result are kept 30 days, then deleted.
- Each key allows 120 requests a minute. Keys are shown once; you can have 5 active keys.
